Install an EA on a forex VPS, without Remote Desktop
On a classic Windows VPS you install an RDP app, type an IP and password, install MetaTrader, then copy your EA over. On VPS Forex the terminal is already running and opens in your browser. Here is the whole setup.

What you need
- Your MT4 or MT5 login from your broker (login number, password, server name).
- The EA file:
.ex4for MT4 or.ex5for MT5, plus any.setfile, indicators or a.zipof them. - A VPS Forex account. A Trading VPS starts at $3.60/month.
Step by step
- Add your MetaTrader account. In the dashboard, add a Trading VPS, pick MT4 or MT5, enter your broker server, login and password, and pay. The terminal starts on its own within a few minutes.
- Upload the EA. Open the account card and use "Upload a file". Pick the .ex4 / .ex5, indicators, .set files or a .zip. Each file lands in the right MetaTrader folder (Experts, Indicators, Presets).
- Open the terminal. Tap "Open terminal". MetaTrader opens in the browser tab, on a laptop or a phone. Nothing to install.
- Attach the EA to a chart. Open the chart for your symbol and timeframe, find the EA under Navigator → Expert Advisors, drag it onto the chart, load your .set file under Inputs, and press OK.
- Turn on Algo Trading. Click Algo Trading (MT5) or AutoTrading (MT4) in the toolbar, or flip it from "Terminal controls" in the dashboard. The EA's face icon on the chart should turn active.
- Check it is trading. Read the Experts and Journal tabs, or open "Terminal logs" in the dashboard. Now you can close the browser and switch off your PC: the EA keeps running.
Common problems
MT5 EA does not start (error 568)
It was compiled for AVX2, which our Lille server cannot run. Pick the Paris server when you order (it runs AVX2 builds), or recompile in MetaEditor for AVX or X64 Regular, or ask the seller for that build. MT4 .ex4 files are not affected.
EA licence check or news filter fails
The EA needs internet access. Inside the terminal: Tools → Options → Expert Advisors → tick "Allow WebRequest for listed URL", type the URL, click Add, then OK. Clicking OK without Add saves an empty list.
The EA is on the chart but no trades
Check that Algo Trading is on, that "Allow Algo Trading" is ticked in the EA's Common tab, and read the Experts tab for the EA's own error messages.
The terminal froze
Use Restart in "Terminal controls". Your EA, charts and settings come back after the restart.
Why a browser-based VPS for an EA
- It stays online 24/7: power cuts, a sleeping laptop or a dropped home connection no longer stop the EA mid-trade.
- Low latency to broker servers in London and Frankfurt, which matters for scalpers and grid EAs.
- No Windows to patch, no RDP password to leak, and each terminal runs in its own isolated container.
An EA can lose money. Test it on a demo account first, and only trade with money you can afford to lose.
